Alleen Markarian
Associate Family LawAlleen Markarian is an associate at FMBK. She has exclusively practiced family law in Los Angeles County since passing the California Bar in December 2016. Alleen graduated cum laude from California State University Northridge in May 2012 with a degree in Political Science. She later graduated from Pepperdine Law School in May 2016, earning a Juris Doctorate degree and a Certificate in the top-ranked Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, where she enhanced her conflict management and dispute resolution skills.
Prior to going to law school, Alleen volunteered at Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles, particularly with the San Fernando Court’s Self-Help Center, helping indigent litigants navigate their family law and/or civil matters, providing them with information regarding the law, court procedure, and providing litigants with information about domestic violence.
Since law school, Alleen has been working as an associate attorney in a Los Angeles family law firm, and has volunteered at the Harriett Buhai Center For Family Law. In 2018, Alleen received a Five Years of Service Award from the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law. Since 2016, Alleen has been a trainer in the Harriett Buhai New Volunteers Training Program, teaching attorneys and paralegals about California family law.
Alleen has experience in mediating, negotiating, and litigating all areas of family law, including child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, high asset property division, domestic violence, and pre-marital and post-marital agreements. Alleen has been involved in a variety of family law hearings, long cause trials, domestic violence proceedings, ex parte hearings and procedural hearings. Alleen has successfully negotiated numerous family law agreements – from stipulations to settlement agreements and judgments. In addition to her legal skills and experience, Alleen is an effective communicator with clients, counsel and judicial officers. She promptly determines the client’s objectives, anticipates their needs, deciphers their legal issues, manages expectations and creates a goal-oriented strategy with and for the client.
Alleen is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of California, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Armenian Bar Association, the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, and Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles.
Alleen speaks fluent Armenian and conversational Spanish.
In her free time, Alleen enjoys hiking the beautiful Los Angeles mountains, cooking, and spending quality time with her husband and her six young nieces and nephews.
